Dr. Lynn Winstead Mabe has been a Licensed Professional Counselor in private practice in the Dallas-Fort Worth area for over 19 years with office locations in Dallas and Colleyville.  Dr. Mabe worked for the Dallas Police Department before she resigned to pursue her Doctorate Degree in counseling at Texas A&M University-Commerce.  She won the Distinguished Dissertation Award for her doctoral research on communication issues in law enforcement marriages.  She is a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police, the American Counseling Association, the Texas Counseling Association, the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation, the American Psychological Association, the Association of Traumatic Stress Society, The Center for Law Enforcement Ethics, and is a Diplomat of the American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress.  Dr. Mabe does workshops and presentations for counselors across the state to educate and train them in some of the specific issues related to counseling.  Dr. Mabe is also a professor at The University of Texas at Dallas, where she teaches Interpersonal Communication, Crisis Communication and Advanced Crisis Communication.  She is currently doing a follow-up study regarding marriage and communication issues with The Dallas Police Department.  Dr. Mabe specializes in working with families, couples and individuals coping with stress, major life transitions and temporary crisis situations.
 
Dr. Mabe resides in Dallas, Texas and enjoys reading and training for triathlons in her free time.  She is working toward starting a low-cost, not-for-profit, state-wide agency to assist the confidential counseling needs of police officers and their families.
